Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
